Multiple folded recesses ensure maximum stability in the 4mm thick aluminum base plate. A substructure distributes applied forces as widely as possible. The Touratech engine protection *Expedition* is therefore one of the most robust on the market. Ground clearance is not restricted.

Plastic rails on the lower part of the base plate facilitate "sliding over" stones, rocks, or tree stumps. Almost incidentally, they also ensure that no dirt can settle.

The engine protection for the 1290 Super Adventure is raised so far at the front that kicked-up stones cannot damage the engine block.
