EBC Prolite Brake Disc Floating, Full Floater. MADE IN UK. The goal in development is to improve braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses HPSR steel with a low carbon content, which has an 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is significantly more resistant to rust than cast steel. Additionally, the entire surface is protected with a 3-micron thick zinc coating, which wears off in the brake pad contact zone during the bedding-in process. Only in this area can light surface rust form after prolonged periods of inactivity.   The brake discs are drilled in a bird wing design to minimize the number of holes while optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc from rainwater and brake dust. EBC Prolite Brake Disc, Full Floater   EBC replaces the rigid original disc with a Full Floater brake disc. The manufacturing of the complex and expensive Full Floater offers significant advantages when braking. The brake ring, sawed, drilled, and ground from forged HPSR steel bars, can expand freely even during repeated hard braking, such as when descending mountain passes, without deforming. Here, the low carbon content of the used HPSR steel proves beneficial, as it ensures minimal microstructural changes in the steel under the thermal stress of heating and cooling the brake disc in demanding road conditions.
