The manufacturing of the complex and expensive Full Floater offers significant advantages when braking. The brake ring, sawed, drilled, and ground from forged HPSR steel bars, can expand freely even during repeated hard braking, such as when descending mountain passes, without deforming. Here, the low carbon content of the used HPSR steel proves beneficial, as it ensures minimal microstructural changes in the steel under the thermal stress of heating and cooling the brake disc in demanding road conditions.
