The magnets assist with centering in the Lock-it tank ring. The difference lies solely in the two magnet or plastic domes that are screwed onto the tank ring. The actual model-specific "metal ring" is the same for both versions. Note: A tank bag with a Lock-it counter holder cannot be placed on a BASIC tank ring and vice versa. The tank bag counter holder and tank ring must be from the same system.
