With the GS through knee-deep water - no problem. Unfortunately, not quite!A small inconspicuous valve on the final drive ensures the necessary ventilation and pressure equalization inside the housing. The Extreme Shock Absorber features PDS, a hydraulic bottoming protection achieved through the use of a second damping piston. Even under the most extreme trail conditions with full luggage, there is no bottoming out, preventing mechanical overload of the shock absorber. The damping operates based on the degree of travel. In the majority of riding situations, the shock absorber is comfortably and power-saving adjusted, before the PDS engages in the final part of the shock travel.   This means for you: Any luggage volume from the tail bag to the loaded luggage system and/or passenger operation is accommodated by the Extreme adjustment range. The balance of the motorcycle can be easily and quickly restored by you using the hydraulic preload adjustment via the handwheel.
